This is an illustration that I’ve created after reading
about the VR, its impact on the environment and on the mental health.
The VR technology has its many benefits- we can see and experience new places without travelling, develop massive engineering projects, we can also connect with people and create together in the virtual reality. Nonetheless, the materials from which the devices has been made are harmful to the environment. What is more, spending too much time into the virtual world can lead to disconnection from the real one.
This complex relationship with the technology and its pros and cons, are depicted with the flowers and their special relation to the VR glasses- what space do they occupy; are their leafs folded or freely spread; do they feel ‘comfortable’…

The
style of the illustration is contemporary such as the technology, with added
depth with colour gradients and grainy texture, to visualise the connection
between real and digital.
